The Kaduna State Government says it spent N2.83billion on 32 projects in Kaduna South Local Government Area of the state in the last three and half years.
The government disclosed this at a town hall meeting in Kaduna where it gave account of its stewardship under the Gov. Nasiru El Rufai administration.
The event was organised by the State Budget and Planning Commission in collaboration with the Ministry for Local Governments.
Speaking at the event, the Commissioner, Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, Mrs Amina Sijuwade, said the government had done well and needed more support from the people to do more.
According to her, the state government is executing 32 on-going projects worth N2.83 billion covering Education, Health and infrastructure in the Kaduna South LGA, with most already completed.
Some of the projects undertaken in the area included 12 school classrooms rehabilitated, four school toilets constructed, six solar powered boreholes, worth N977.8million, the commissioner said.
On Health, Sijuwade said that the government had renovated 12 Public Health Centers, procured and installed hospital equipment that cost N415.1 million.
She said that the government had done much on infrastructure with construction and upgrade of roads, drainage and renovation of government offices worth N1.48 billion.
In his remarks, Malam Abdulrahman Yahaya, the Secretary of Kaduna South Local Government, said that the council had also embarked on projects to enhance the wellbeing of residents.
He listed the projects to include renovations of three PHCs, 24 classrooms, fencing of schools, purchase of firefighting equipment and provision of 25 thousand books to school children, as well as six electrification projects.
“This was made possible because of the local government autonomy which the state government has promoted,” Yahaya said.
Earlier in his remark, Kabiru Jarimi, Chairman Kaduna South LGA, said that the people had benefited immensely from the current administration, particularly in areas of Health and education and youths and women empowerment, among others.
“We, therefore, pledge our full support to Nasir El-Rufai led-administration in taking us to the next level,” the council boss said.
Yusuf Liman, the District Head of Badiko, commended the government for all the good things that it had done in Kaduna South LGA in the past three years.
