The plant with production capacity of 1.5 million metric tons of Urea fertilizer is considered the world’s largest single-train Urea plant. Indorama Eleme Fertilizer and Chemicals Limited, formerly Eleme Petrochemicals Company Ltd, had been privatised in 2006 after the sale of Federal Government’s 75 per cent shares.
The Plant built with 1.5 billion dollars has production capacity of 4,000 metric tons of nitrogenous fertilizer per day. This will make fertilizer more available and affordable to farmers thereby boosting farming and reduce food deficit in Nigeria. The plant construction, in view of the economic diversification policy of the Federal Government will aid the green revolution in the agriculture sector in Nigeria, other parts of Africa and beyond.
