Tesla May Open First Store in South Africa in 2019- Elon Musk

Elon Musk, a billionaire entrepreneur and owner of Tesla Inc, an American automotive and energy company based in Palo Alto, California, via twitter has revealed plans to open a store in South Africa for the company’s electric vehicle by the end of 2019.

Musk revealed his intention after tweeting about the opening of 11 new stores in the United States. The entrepreneur was responding to a query by South African crytocurrency expert Riccardo Spagni as to when the manufacturer would expand to South Africa.

In the past, Musk has come under scrutiny for various comments about his projects, which has attracted intense public interest.

In an interview with the US network 60 Minutes on Sunday, Musk had predicted Tesla’s Model 3 Sedan would be available in “5-6 months”.

So far in 2018, Tesla shares have added about 16 per cent, although the company’s growing debt burden, and manufacturing problems, attracted numerous headlines in 2018.

Musk’s comments and behaviour also got a lot of attention this year. This included a US Securities and Exchange Sanction against Musk for tweeting that he wanted to take Tesla private at a price of $420 per share, which ultimately saw him step down as board chairman.
